Children who play video games on a school night are more likely to get better grades, according to a new study.
Children who spent 4+ hours on the internet per week were 15% less likely to get higher reading scores and 17% less likely to get higher numeracy scores.
Children who spent less time performed better on games. The research challenges the belief that technology rots teenagers’ brains. We are starting to see more studies that are pro technology. The reason for this is that technology is so threaded in our world. It no longer a question of whether we should use but how we should use it.
As I explain in, the focus should not only be on how long they play videogames or use technology but what they do on there. Quality content for them to use is important. If they are gaming then ensure they play good quality video games. These are those that encourage problem solving, team work, creativity and strategic thinking. Steer clear of gimmicky games that don’t require your child to think.
