Student confidence is a prime issue with online learning. In my own research & many discussions I’ve had with students in the last few days, there is an overall apprehension by them in shifting online. Some of the concerns by them include:
– Some children wonder if they will ever see their teacher again.
– Older students are concerned that the online format won’t adequately prepare them to pass assignments and exams.
– There are worries about when lessons will happen, how they get to the lessons, how often it will happen. – They worry about wifi, technical issues, not always having access to a device.
– Give students a firm timetable. Let them know exactly when their online lessons/learning will take place.
– Assure them you will be there online and that you will be there after the online phase is completed.
– Give them a plan B in case they have technical issues. Make sure it is a solid step by step plan.
– Have a couple of practice sessions before the real online learning sessions take place. Has any one had any other concerns by students?
